As much as think he probably died in the Time War, he really deserves to go out and be an amazing adventurer.
I can see him doing it too--setting up some kind of investigative service on a space station somewhere, constantly wearing a fedora and trying to be cool, and not always managing it. And people don't take him seriously, but then he figures it out and saves the day, and everyone is going, "....?"
And OMG, I DO NOT need to end up writing Fitz/Eleven. And yet, Fitz would totally steal his bowtie.
